Job Title: Project Assistant
Overview
- The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Capital Planning and Project Managers in the delivery of complex high value projects for a large Health and Community Services property portfolio.
- The post holder will play a key supporting role in the planning and implementation of the most significant capital and other change management plans for the Trust requiring a high level of project and logistics planning expertise, project management knowledge, excellent communication skills underpinned by a focus on providing high standards of customer service and diplomacy.
- Provide administrative support to the capital planning team ensuring that project records are updated and maintained in accordance with latest DH and treasury guidance and best practice and that all projects are recorded to PRINCE 2 principles.

Formal Qualifications, education & training required
- BTEC ONC or equivalent in a technical or project related discipline.
- ECDL or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience in the advanced use of IT systems
- Qualification in Project Management to PRINCE 2 Foundation level or equivalent
Essential skills and competencies
- Knowledge of Project Management principles and property
Basic understanding of corporate and Directorate financial control, budget structures, budget management, budget setting, recharging mechanisms, taxation, capital and revenue definitions, capital charges, depreciation, life cycle costs, business rates. - Basic understanding of health care operational environments including clinical service models, clinical and non clinical risk, patient focus, customer service, best practice service delivery and service redesign.
- Strong operational planning skills and ability to prioritise work of others.
- Confident and effective communicator with advanced verbal and written skills.
- Able to clearly present complex information to a variety of audiences including Directors, other professional groups and members of the public.
- Effective negotiating skills, high level of diplomacy.
- Able to deliver complex multifaceted projects within time, on budget and to required quality and safety standards.
- Able to make difficult decisions when faced with multi- stranded and conflicting highly complex data.
- Able to produce high quality reports with recommendations based on complex data analysis and within tight timescales.
- The post holder will be able to deliver all work outputs to a high quality commensurate with qualified status.
- Able to make sound judgments based on analysis of technical appraisals, feasibility studies, technical reports and other estates data.
- Able to conduct effective management of complaints, incidents and service considerations including basic investigations.
Desirable skills and competencies
Knowledge and understanding of the impact of change and best practice in change management.
Essential experience
Two years experience in a Project role.
