Overview
The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to manage the release of passengers from their respective, site-specific types of lift installations and carried out in a safe and effective manner.
Who is the course aimed at?
This on-site course is for lift release wardens and other staff who are responsible for the release of trapped passengers from a building’s lift system, in emergency situations and/or when the lift contractor cannot meet the timescales required by the trust. Those responsible may include healthcare estate officers, maintenance technicians, porters, security staff and caretakers

Introduction to the respective legislation and standards associated with the release of trapped personnel Identification of all lift mechanism safety features, and safe working procedures with energised systems, including the safety of personnel and releasing of passengers from electric traction, hydraulic and machine room less lifts Application of the required actions to be taken in the event of passengers being trapped within a lift, in accordance with BS7255, HTM 08-02 and other guidance Coordination requirements when working with third parties in the release of trapped passengers Escalation procedures and when they should be applied Post release lift installation safety requirements
