This course is aimed at National Health Service staff and others in the private sector who have responsibility for the management and production of all sterile services and goods. These include Sterile Services managers, supervisors and those designated the ‘User’ as defined in NHS guidance.

To enable learners to meet their responsibilities as users.
Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Define various sterilization and washer-disinfection processes
- Describe the operating principles of porous load sterilizers
- Carry out daily and weekly tests
- Identify appropriate documentation
- Explain roles and responsibilities of key personnel involved with sterile services
- Reference and describe specified testing procedures
- Correctly interpret test results provided by the CP(D) and explain certification responsibilities
Prerequisites
Delegates should be working in or towards a supervisor/manager role within an acute trust/sterile services environment.
Additional Information
The course includes practical work on sterilizers and washer-disinfectors to help in the attainment of the objectives.
Related courses
Although our Users’ course covers washer disinfectors, it does not cover the more specific requirements of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors. Knowledge of this subject can be gained by attending our Management of flexible endoscope decontamination (to NHS guidance) course.
