General Overview: To act for the Director of Corporate Services as the situation requires. To support the Executive Director of Corporate Services and the Deputy Director of Corporate Services in the effective and efficient management of the total resources of the Division. To take lead responsibility for the Estates Development Department, ensuring the most effective planning, development, and management of all services provided. To assist the Executive Director of Corporate Services and Deputy Director of Corporate Services and Estates Development Manager on major projects, taking lead responsibility as directed. To take full responsibility for the management and execution of the Trusts capital program as it relates to the Trusts Estate and to lead the Estates and Infrastructure and Property Rationalisation Capital subgroup. To provide professional leadership to all staff within recognised professional area. To take the technical lead on identified issues related to the management of Estates, providing accurate up to date advice to the Trust Executive and Trust Board. To ensure the ongoing maintenance and development of professional standards, capability, and capacity in the department in line with the requirements of the Trust. To be professionally and managerially accountable for estates construction matters and for the strategic development of the full estate’s service. To have responsibility for providing a safe environment and reducing risk for patients staff and visitors. To be professionally accountable for the development and implementation of Trust policies relating to the land and property portfolio of the Trust including Town and Country Planning advice. To develop and maintain close and effective working relationships with the Senior Estates & Facilities Managers to achieve an effective and integrated E&FM service.
Average Salary: £53K-£62K (depending on NHS experience)

Essential experience (based on AfC person specification):
Demonstrable experience in a senior management role in a large acute health facility. Ability to manage multidisciplinary staff. Design and management of Engineering/Construction projects/ Building Surveying/Quantity Surveying within a Health context. Familiarisation with standard forms of contracts used in building and engineering contracts. Project Team leadership/ participation. Capital budget management. Working knowledge of PFI / Outsourced E&FM contracts and their management. Working knowledge of Procure 21+ procedures. Detailed knowledge of Capital Investment Manuals and other associated NHS guidance. Working knowledge of operational E&FM management and its interfaces with capital schemes. Extensive risk management experience. Ability to support and develop cost improvement programs. Ability to support outsourced E&FM contact management and renewals.
