University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust
About
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) was formed on 1 April 2021.
The Trust was created by a merger of Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, running hospitals in Brighton and Haywards Heath, and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, running hospitals in Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing and Chichester.
UHSussex now runs seven hospitals across Brighton & Hove and West Sussex.
Mission and values
The mission of University Hospitals Sussex – what we are striving to achieve – is to provide:
All our efforts to do this put the interests of our patients first and foremost, and are underpinned by our values:
- Compassion
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Respect
- Professionalism
- Inclusion
These values were selected by our staff, patients and public when we were talking about the merger and the sort of organisation we want University Hospitals Sussex to be.
They combine the values of both Western Sussex Hospitals and Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals and added an important new focus on inclusion.
