- To ensure all vehicles are cleaned and maintained, checking and reporting all defects accordingly.
- To respond to all emergency calls including fire, cardiac arrest, major incident, assistance in dealing with difficult patients and baby abduction.
- To undertake any other duties requires by the Supervisor and Manager for which adequate training has been given.

Job Title: Non Patient Handling Porter
Overview
- To provide a Portering service for the Trust in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
- The Portering department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staff will work a variety of shift patterns.
- To be responsible for the movement and correct disposal of all waste and dirty laundry from wards and departments in accordance with current procedures and legislation. Waste will include domestic, infectious, offensive, cytotoxic, sharps and human tissue.
- To provide a postal service to all departments within the Trust. Delivery and collection of the outgoing and internal post along with parcels and recorded delivery items. Sorting all mail in a timely fashion.
- To drive Trust vehicles including 3.5-tonne vans. To ensure all vehicles are cleaned and maintained, checking and reporting all defects accordingly.
- Staff will be required to undertake a generic and flexible approach to their work in order that we maintain an effective, reliable and cost-effective service. This approach will help support the team in times of absence and/or increased workloads and demand.

Job Title: Portering Supervisor
Overview
- To provide supervisory duties for the portering services across the Trust.
- Day to day allocations of workloads. Manage rotas, sickness, training and bulk cylinder medical gases.
- Provide support to the Portering Services Manager and deputise in their absence.
- To assist with fire calls, crash calls and any other emergency response calls, and coordinate the department during such incidents.
- To implement and control major incident procedures for the department until the manager takes over.
- To undertake any other duties requested by the Portering Services Manager.

Job Title: Portering Co-ordinator
Overview
- Liaising with the Portering & Security Supervisors to ensure there is a consistent approach by the department to all tasks. Ensure that communication between shifts is of a high standard and that all ad-hoc tasks are completed.
- To monitor service level agreements, compliance to Policies & Procedures and performance of the department, keeping adequate records to complete audit and KPI reports.
- To co-ordinate, monitor, develop and train the operational portering & security team as they undertake all routine, scheduled and ad-hoc tasks on a day to day basis. To ensure staff have adequate training and systems managed, to reduce the risk of incident or breaches in security, investigate and recommend changes when incidents occur.
- In addition to portering and security duties, it is necessary to be prepared to perform vital support roles to aid the smooth running of the hospital. Staff require adequate knowledge to attend to all reasonable, non-clinical, requests for support and assistance.
