Its first event, held on 12 June, was aimed at consultants considering practicing at the hospital, and GPs who will be advising patients on treatments and the high-quality care available at the 15,000 ft2 city centre facility. The evening featured a presentation on the new hospital, including its ‘industry-leading’ equipment, and a tour of the premises, which are still under construction. A further open evening is to be staged on 26 July to meet demand.
Elanic Hospital Glasgow will open to patients in late summer, and is expected to create around 75 jobs over the next two years – including theatre nurse roles as part of its high staff-patient ratio care provision. The clinic is headed by Vivek Sivarajan and CJ Tollan Sivarajan, both consultant plastic surgeons, with Vivek Sivarajan (pictured) also leading the medical team, and Ashleigh Jolly leading clinical services. Professor Jason Leitch CBE, Scotland’s former national clinical director, has joined as a non-executive director.
Kristian Campbell, managing director, Elanic Medical, said: “Welcoming leading members of Scotland’s healthcare community to our new Glasgow hospital was a significant milestone, and we’ve had some brilliant feedback about our plans. We already have some of Scotland’s top surgeons based at the hospital, and look forward to announcing the consultants who are joining us in due course. Quite simply, we want to give people more choice, and ensure that they’re able to access healthcare when and where they need it. Waiting times for many elective procedures are too long for those who are in chronic pain or who need to get better to be able to do their jobs.”
Elanic Hospital Glasgow is located above Elanic’s existing surgical clinic, founded more than 10 years ago, on Bath Street. The new facility will offer a range of elective treatments and surgeries including orthopaedic and bariatric procedures, to self-paying and private medical insured patients from across Scotland and the North of England. The hospital features a ‘state-of-the-art’ ultra clean airflow operating theatre and a day surgery theatre, equipped with ‘the industry’s most advanced technology’, and complemented by 12 recovery bays. For patients requiring overnight care, there are air-conditioned, en-suite bedrooms, including a specialist enhanced care dependency bedroom.
