This course is for Duty holders, lift portfolio managers and facilities, estates and contract managers with a responsibility for lift installations.
Aim
To provide learners with a responsibility for lift installations with a thorough understanding of the relevant legislation, regulations, roles and responsibilities and who should undertake these.
In addition, the course covers the inspections and examinations required for lifts. This includes the safety examinations required of electrical and mechanical items.
The course covers electric traction (including MRLs) and hydraulic lift installations. It is based around current legislation including the Lift Regulations 2016, PUWER, LOLER, British Standards, SAFed guidance notes and HSE documents.
Throughout this course the emphasis is on carrying out duties in a safe and responsible manner.
Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Define the overall responsibilities for lift installations
- List the main legal and mandatory aspects for the safe working practices for lifts
- Explain the term Competent Person
- List the examinations that are required and the periods of inspection
